Modular Gear Isolation vs. Grid Systems

How to Read Tech Backpack Specs
- Fabric denier: A higher denier (e.g., 400D vs. 210D) means thicker yarn, but weave, coating and material matter as much as the number. See our guide to denier and fabric durability.
- Water resistance: Coated fabrics and water-resistant zippers keep out rain, but few backpacks are fully waterproof at the seams. Use a sleeve or dry bag for electronics in heavy rain.
- Laptop sleeve fit: Measure the laptop itself, not its screen size. A sleeve that is suspended above the bottom of the pack protects the laptop when you set the bag down hard.
- Access style: Side zippers give quick access without taking the bag off. Clamshell openings make packing easier. Top-opening designs are cleaner looking but slower to search.
- Integrated USB ports: These are simply a pass-through cable. You still supply the power bank, and airline rules for power banks still apply.
